Sering Primary School

Bihi School

Bihi School (Shiree Gumpa Himali Basic School) is an extension of Serang Primary School and was built to accommodate the growing number of students and staff at Serang Primary School. Doing so will help to maintain a conducive learning environment and provide a better standard of living for the children.

“A child without education is like a bird without wings. Join us to provide underprivileged children with basic education so that they can pursue a dignified life.”

– Nubtul Tenpei Nyima Rinpoche

Ever since its opening, Serang Primary School was in extremely high demand. There are currently 114 students, 24 staff and 11 mules (used for transportation of food/ basic living necessities for the community) at Serang Primary School, which is 2 times more than what it can hold. The influx of students and staff was partly due to the limited resources of parents in the villages, the growth in educational needs, and the deterioration of teaching conditions throughout the region.

There was an urgent need to accommodate the growing number of students and staff at Serang Primary School so that children have a more conducive environment for learning and sufficient living space. With that, the Bihi School (Shiree Gumpa Himali Basic School) was conceptualized in 2022, begun construction on 25 Mar 2023 and successfully came into fruition in 3rd Quarter of 2023. The school was officially inaugurated on 22 Oct 2023.

Two Complementary Schools

Both schools are extremely important and serve to complement each other. Along with secular education, both schools also teach English, Nubri Tibetan dialect and Nepali. These subjects are complemented by health, math, science, computer, and social studies and moral education curricula that are currently used by the government of Nepal. Students participate in daily prayers and are given Dharma teachings.

In 2022, Karma Rinpoche and Nubtul Rinpoche offered young monks an opportunity to study secular subjects in addition to their monastic studies. This is to ensure the monastics are well rounded to take on future challenges.

Below is a brief summary on the differences between the two schools.
